Coin Through Glass Cup – The Perfect Bar Trick

Coin Tricks, Party Tricks, Tutorial

Most coin tricks require the use of gimmick coins, or the use of deception to use more cards than the audience knows about.

This trick doesn’t require any of that, and that is why it’s so great to learn. It can be done anywhere where you have a coin and a glass. The perfect bar trick.

What does it look like?

You hold a coin in the palm of your hand. In the other hand, you have a small glass cup (clear so you can see through it). You show the audience that you don’t have any other hiding coins in palms and bring the glass down on your palm, and the coin transports through the glass and into the cup.

What you will need

To do this trick, you will need a coin and glass cup.

How to do it

Because no gimmick coins are used, this trick requires the use of sleight of hand. It will require practice before you can perform it comfortably in front of an audience.

You won’t get it on your first try or your first ten tries. You need to be able to do it every time without mistakes. Don’t worry it’s not as difficult as it sounds.

Penny Travels Through Plastic to End Up In Closed Tic Tac Box

Coin Tricks, Tutorial

This is one of the easiest tricks for beginners, and doesn’t involve much set up or practice. You’ll be ready to perform it for an audience probably after only one trial run.

What it looks like

Take an empty Tic Tac box and a normal penny. Wave the penny around the exterior of the plastic box, and on the final wave the penny magically transports inside without the lid ever being opened.

What you will need

2 Pennies and an empty Tic Tac box.

Where can you get an empty Tic Tac box? They’re pretty much at every convenience store and drug store around the world.

How is this done?

Yes, of course there HAS to be a second penny, right? It’s a magic trick, it doesn’t actually transport itself through the plastic.

The first penny will is placed inside the box before the trick is performed. It is actually covered by the label sticker.

The cool part is that you don’t even need to open the lid to do this, so the sticker stays intact. All you need to do is squeeze the top of the box (the side with the lid) and the penny will be able to slide right in. Once you let go, the penny will remain squeezed perfectly hidden from view.

To release it, simply squeeze the top part again.

So the only thing left to do is to get rid of the first penny without being noticed by spectators. It is actually very easy to do. Watch the tutorial video to learn how.

How to Produce Cards Out of Thin Air

Tutorial

Have you ever seen a card magician produce cards out of thin air? This is one of my favourite tricks because it looks so spectacular. It’s one of those effects where the move is so cool that it’s good enough to be its own trick.

We’re going to learn how to produce not one, but multiple cards in your hand out of thin air.

Be forewarned that this is going to take a lot of practice. It’s impossible to do this fluidly without getting your muscle memory used to the motions.

What It Looks Like

Before we learn how to do the move, let’s see what it looks like first.

The Tutorial

This can seem complicating at first. Follow along the steps in this very detailed tutorial. You’ll be able to get the hang of it after awhile. After that, you’ll need repetition and practice to do it fluidly.

If you’re serious about mastering this technique, you’ll probably end up watching this video at least over a dozen times.

Having Trouble With the Grip?

If you’re having trouble with the grip, here is a more detailed tutorial on how to form the grip with a more high quality picture and zoomed in closer to the hand.

Conclusion

Hopefully, you’re able to get the basics down with just a little bit of practice. The hard part is getting to point where you can do this smoothly. To get to that point, you have to get to the point where your hands can form the grip as naturally as you can cross your fingers.

The Signed Card Trick by David Blaine

David Blaine, Tutorial

Here’s yet another trick by David Blaine. This trick is best performed sitting down with a hard surface (such as a table) where you can place the cards down. You’ll require a marker for this trick so the spectator can sign their card.

What it looks like

The spectator “randomly” chooses a card. They sign their name on the back. They then “randomly” select another card, and sign their name on the front. Both cards are placed face up on the table. After you give the first card a wave, the signature on the back disappears and moves to the back of the second card.

You’ll notice that in a lot of his card magic, the main key to the trick is doing the double lift. This one is no different. It just shows you how powerful the double lift is, and the versatility it gives you in your moves.

Graham Jolley’s Card Trick That Fooled Penn & Teller

Penn & Teller, Tutorial

On the show, Fool Us, professional magicians come on to the stage to perform magic tricks. If Penn & Teller can’t tell how they did the trick, they win. Graham Jolley performed a card trick that fooled Penn & Teller. Let’s learn how to do it.

This trick is absolute gold for people who love card magic, but hate practice. The effect was good enough to fool some of the greatest magicians of all time, but anybody can learn to do it in under 10 minutes. It’s one of the few professional card tricks that we categorize as “Easy”.

Let’s watch how to do it below.

The trick uses mathematical calculations. It’s one of those tricks that uses math, and it just works almost like real magic. Meaning, you don’t need to do all the calculations yourself. The deck of cards does it for you.
